Unfiltered Sake Wins Medal at New York World Wine & Spirits Competition

New York, NY Judging for the 8th New York World Wine & Spirits Competition took place in September and among the medaling beverages is Wetlands Unfiltered Sake. With five medal categories Silver is distinguished as "Outstanding wines and spirits that show refinement, finesse, and complexity; these winners are among the best examples of their categories."
Wetlands Unfiltered Sake is a traditional sake that is cloudy in appearance. It is medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness. It features a delicate fruitiness and luscious body with a smooth finish. The panel of judges agree that it is an outstanding representation of an Unfiltered or Nigori Sake not just on an American scale but on a Global scale.

In the Competition’s nine-year history, the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition (NYWSC) has established itself as one of the most respected judging events in the U.S.A. Our judges—predominantly from the New York area—are among the wine and spirits industry’s most trusted authorities, not only on the subject of quality wines and spirits, but also on the regional tastes and trends that drive the wine and spirits markets.
The NYWSC is a member of The Tasting Alliance, the parent organization of the world-renowned San Francisco World Spirits Competition, San Francisco International Wine Competition, and Singapore World Spirits Competition.
The Tasting Alliance Competitions are considered the most influential for a reason. They have elevated the reputation of many brands, and represent the ultimate curator for wine and spirits. Wetlands Sake is brewed in the heart of New Orleans using time-honored brewing techniques and high-quality ingredients sourced right here in Louisiana. We brew our sakes utilizing a unique short-grain rice developed by the LSU AgCenter Rice Research Center which is grown and cultivated in Louisiana. As Louisiana natives, we love the beautiful sights, sounds, and adventures of the wetlands. In the process of sourcing our ingredients, we discovered just how vital a role the wetlands play in the cultivation of rice. Thus the name Wetlands Sake was born, and with that name came our company’s commitment to wetlands conservation.
